Born in 1932 in Cologne, Germany, Otto Noethen experienced World War II as a child in a city which was almost completely destroyed during five years of air bombardments. Towards the end of 1944 his family was evacuated to spend the final month of the war in the eastern part of Germany. Trying to rebuild his life after the war proved to be very difficult, especially due to the severe food shortages. In 1957 he followed a lifelong desire to share his life with his young bride and live in North America to raise their family in peace. Hopefully, anyone reading this book will have a better understanding about life in Germany during the darkest chapter in German history under 12 years of Nazi terror.
